About the courses

Who organises them

Our courses are organised by the "Servicio de Lenguas Modernas" (Modern Languages Service) from Huelva University and sponsored by Banco Santander which covers partial and full tuition fees.

Our teachers are experts linguists with a long career in language teaching. During the academic year, they are in charge of teaching Spanish courses for foreigners.

To ensure the perfect learning environment, courses are designed to a maximum of fifteen students.

Location

The lessons will take place at the main University Campus, El Carmen, located in Huelva, next to the shopping centre Holea and just minutes away from the city centre.

Programme length and dates

  • Welcome to Huelva! takes place in early September, just before the beginning of the academic year.
  • Summer School is placed at the end of the academic year in July, 
  • 4/5-hours-a-day Spanish lessons.
  • 60 hours in all (8 ECTS).
  • 12 months of open access to the online learning environment.

Class schedule

  • From Monday to Thursday: from 9.00 am to 2.00 pm.
  • With the Summer School programme there are some Planned trips to different cultural or tourist attractions per week.

Access requirements

  • Age: 18+
  • Take the level test (If you have never studied Spanish, you won't have to take the test).

How to apply

Application period

The application period opens two months before the course dates.
For the beginner's course, Welcome to Huelva!, all applications should be submitted before the end of May.  Registration opens in June

For the intermediate/advanced course, Summer School, all applications should be submitted before the end of March.  Registration opens in April.

Registration and tuition fees:

Registration (administrative) fee

All students must pay the non-refundable administrative fee of €75. This deposit should be paid during the application period.

Tuition fees:

  • Welcome to Huelva! €750
  • Summer School €850

Scholarship

Santander Bank, our sponsor, offers 10 partial and 20 full tuition fees.  There is an application form to submit in case you are interested.

  • Eligibility: Students should apply filling in the corresponding application form.

Living costs:

Living costs are not included in any of the courses.  However, Huelva offers multiple hotel options, tourist flats and other types of  young-tourist-friendly accommodation, like youth hostels or shared flats. Here you are some addresses of partner institutions of Huelva University, but you can check other options by yourself:

  • Albergue Juvenil, Junta de Andalucía - (Youth hostel, Regional Government of Andalusia).
  • Housing Huelva - They provide you with information and manage accommodation in flats, shared apartments or with families. 
  • ESN HUELVA (Erasmus Students Network - Huelva) - They provide information of interest to foreign students.

Moreover, our campus has a university canteen with affordable prices and extensive opening hours to meet your needs.
